The Tesla Model S will be featured at a series of meet-up style gatherings hosted by EV Quorum car club. The events will be held on weekends this summer. Starting in California, the events will be held in major cities throughout the United States over the course of the next year.
The Tesla Model S was named Motor Trend's 2013 "Car of the Year" and earned Consumer Reports' highest score ever; 99 points. The Wall Street Journal reported "This is one amazing car. I mean, hard-core amazing." Popular Science commented "The Tesla Model S sets the standard by which all future electric vehicles will be measured."
The events provide an opportunity for participants to talk to electric car owners and guest drive their privately-owned electric vehicles including the Tesla Model S. Other EVs at the gathering will include the Fiat 500e, Ford Focus Electric, Chevy Volt, Nissan Leaf, Smart ED and others. Information about charging systems and solar charging, along with tabletop demonstration units will also be available. The ECGD is a social and educational event. There are no salespeople. There is nothing for sale. The cars and gear are provided by the folks who use them every day and can provide unbiased advice about their usability and reliability.
Electric Car Guest Drive is hosted by EV Quorum car club. Participants may become club members and guest drive other car club members' cars. Other EV clubs will provide additional cars, including classic car conversions, in some cities.
The purpose of the Guest Drive events are to introduce drivers to EVs and build awareness about electric cars in the community.
